Kickin’ Movie Popcorn

If you’re tired of bland tasteless microwave and movie popcorn, try this recipe out. Quick, easy, and makes watching movies with friends and family extra special. For the bold, sneak some into the movie theater instead of paying $5 for stale movie popcorn.

Jazz popcorn up with, blue cheese butter, bacon bits, or try a little tapatio on top! Also, salted butter will coat popcorn better than just salting it. You get butter and salt all in one.

Ingredients: popcorn kernels, salted butter, blue cheese, canola oil.

  1. in a stock pot or dutch oven, coat the bottom of pot with canola oil. turn heat up to med. high and pour in popcorn, enough to cover the bottom of pot. swirl kernal around to coat in oil. cover and pop until kernels slow to a few seconds between pops. (same as the microwave popcorn.) about 5-7 min. remove from heat.
  2. melt butter and blue cheese together, (about 4 tbs of butter and 1/4 cup of blue cheese crumbles. i go heavy on the blue cheese). melt either in microwave or in a small pot on stove over low heat.
  3. pour blue cheese butter over popcorn. sprinkle a little salt on top and give the popcorn a shake to coat the kernels.

serve in fun popcorn bowls, throw on a movie and open a bottle of wine!

for popcorn w/bacon bits:

  1. pop kernels the same, but fry some bacon strips until crispy and drain on a paper towel. melt butter and pour over popcorn, then crumble in bacon. sprinkle with a little salt and toss to coat.
