I’ve done it again. I made the most ridiculously yummy hummus and I did it quite by accident (which isn’t unusual for me). It all started with a taste sampler at work. I work at Whole Foods and we have theses Coco Lite pop cakes we pop in store. We were giving samples with different dips. Hummus is always a favorite dip so we had that.
Now you should know, I am a big hummus snob. Being Lebanese I grew up eating hummus but NEVER store bought. It’s become much more popular these days and you can find many varieties on the market shelves. Still, I am a snob. I make my own.
I went a head and tried the pop cake sample with hummus. My taste buds were jolted with excitement. They were demanding I give them more. So, I bought myself a bag of Coco Lites and hurried home to of course, make my own hummus. I try and keep all the ingredients for hummus stocked.
Following orders from my taste buds, I went straight into the kitchen as soon as I walked in the door. I gathered all the ingredients I had on hand for hummus. I was running low on a few items so I improvised. I’m writing all the ingredients here in my blog so I can hopefully recreate this tasty hummus.
My list of ingredients for my new favorite Rich and Creamy Hummus!
- 1 can of chick peas and 1 can of cannellini beans (rinsed and drained)
- 1 meyer lemon (from my tree)
- 3 tSp. sesame paste
- 1 tSp sesame oil
- 2 tSp salt and 1 tSp pepper
- extra virgin olive oil
Pour everything into food processor (except olive oil) and squeeze juice from lemon in. Puree everything together and drizzle in olive oil through feed until you have a creamy smooth hummus.
Scoop hummus into a bowl and start dipping.
